Daranak Falls (Tanay)
INFORMATION Darank Falls is a 14-meter high falls which stands majestically beneath a running stream. A short walk over the wooden trestle to the top of Daranak are the smaller streams known as the Batlag Falls. Location: Barangay Tandang, Kutyo, Tanay How to get there: From the town proper, jeepneys ply regularly going to the Manila East Road or Tanay Highway Travel time: 15 minutes to 40 minutes from the town proper WHEN AND HOW TO GO Excursionist frequents the place all year round so the place is actually not that quiet and peaceful. But during the rainy season, there are days that you may have a chance to have the place on your own. Be prepared though that water level sometimes reaches to alarming proportions when the rain is really hard. In fact one time we camped there during the last week of December, the waterfalls more than doubled it’s actual size causing the basin to overflow; Its a very nice place for those people who loves to swim. But for those people who doesnt have the ability to swim. there are many shallow part that you can play and hang around. Daranak falls can be reached either by Laguna or Rizal route, but for those who are coming from manila it is more easier by the rizal route, From manila go to crossing megamall (shaw blvd.) from there you can ride a jeepney straight to Tanay Market the fare is around 45 pesos (as of July16, 2005) from tanay market you can ask for a ride going to daranak.... During summer the ride are more frequent. During rainy season you can go on a special trip that will cost you around 160-200 pesos. But for those coming from southern part of manila you can ride a bus to sta cruz laguna, then catch a ride to siniloan. from there you can ride a jeep going to tanay.... POINTS OF INTEREST From Daranak you can go to Daraitan wich is also located at Rizal Province SUGGESTED ITINERARY
No permits are required to go to Daranak Falls. A 20 peso entrace fee is needed, plus if u have a vehicle, there is also a parking fee worth 20 pesos, but its a small price to pay for such a wonderous place. By the way the water isnt that potable to drink it is safer to bring ur own water or better yet buy one from stores that are nestling inside the park. Going overnight at Daranak Falls are not allowed, but for those who want to spend the night there, you can go up to Batlag falls which is located on top of Daranak, where you can set up your tents Visit: Metropolitan
